The 5 Best Beauty Tricks for Busy Moms

Has your beauty routine fallen by the wayside ever since you gave birth? Between packing lunches, early morning conference calls, and school drop-off, what working mom really has an extra 15 minutes to devote to herself each morning?

That said, going barefaced to the office isn't necessarily a realistic option. Yes, you'll shave precious minutes off of your morning routine, but your self-esteem could take a hit in the process. “At work, you need to look put-together regardless of how busy or tired you are,” says Hollywood makeup artist Lauren Kaye Cohen, who has worked with Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, and Jessica Simpson. “If you take the extra five minutes to put on a little bit of strategic makeup, it will make you feel better all day long. Less is more, but it's still a confidence booster.”

Here, Cohen shares her top five tips for busy moms getting ready to face the day.

1. Choose a soft, neutral, or sheer lip color.
"Women often think that wearing a bold lip color is all they need for a polished look. What they don’t think about is what it takes to maintain that color throughout the day. It takes so much time and effort to maintain a bright or dark color. Every time you take a sip of water; every time you eat something, kiss someone, or just the sound of the clock ticking away: Those things require touch-ups and those touch-ups require precision and that precision requires a mirror.

"My advice is to skip the bold color and go with a soft, sheer color. You still look put-together and, when it does wear off, it’s hardly noticeable and you can usually reapply without a mirror. Some of my favorites are Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Famous, LKC Lip Sheen in #AllAccess and #Vacay by Laugh Kiss Care, and Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Stoned Rose.”

2. Let your eyebrows grow in!
"Stop over tweezing. Fuller brows frame the face, keep us looking younger, and are completely back in style. That means less tweezing for you! Less swelling, less eye straining over magnifying mirrors, less trips to the waxers or threaders. You will look great, save time, and your style will be current. Keep tweezing in-between the brows however. We are not going for the Frida Kahlo look, just full and natural!"

3. Save time with an allover face color/bronzer that’s not orange-y
"Tom Ford came out with a cream cheek color this summer called Pineo Sole that rocks my world! I can take my fingertips and smear that gorgeous brown with just the right amount of gold on the apples of my cheeks, tip of my nose and chin, and across the very top of my forehead and do absolutely nothing else. Everyone compliments my skin all day long."

4. Skip mascara on the bottom lashes.
"It runs, it smears, and you are constantly cleaning it up. Leaving the bottom lashes clean not only saves time. It also really opens up your eyes."

5. Pick some prickly pear.
y new favorite find is prickly pear. It’s rich in amino acids, vitamins E and K, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants that de-puff and lighten under-eye circles. You’ll quickly begin to notice the need for less and less under-eye concealer, which will certainly speed up your morning regimen. Kahina Giving Beauty’s Prickly Pear Seed Oil is 100% organic and has a stainless steel rollerball applicator that takes literally five seconds to apply."
