What You Might Not Know About Wearing Foundation

We've all seen friends wearing foundation that hasn't exactly been expertly appliedand some of us shy away from using it ourselves because we're worried we won't do much better. Makeup artist Nicole Moleti recently wrote a helpful (and funny) piece for PopSugar that tells women, "Let's not be scared of foundation."

Here are a few of her tips:

Try a tinted moisturizer. It will even out your skin tone, help hide some redness, and offer sun protection. Moleti likes Laura Mercier's version.

If you have oily, acne-prone skin and are worried about liquid or cream products making you break out, go for a powder foundation—just don't pile it on. Moleti recommends IT Cosmetics CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder for a sheer, natural look plus SPF 50.

Skip the blender and use a different tool (not your fingers, either), which means a good foundation sponge for tinted moisturizer or a foundation brush for typical foundation.
